landing straight after 415-pr10, public releases first in a loose series of san francisco-centric compilations, this three-track 12inch is a further exploration of the bay areas sounds and aesthetics, though here its explored via remixes produced by friends from abroad. the a-side is a complete overhaul, reimagining, and extension of anonstops seaside by thee loving hand, tim goldsworthys solo moniker of choice these days. the ex-dfa records co-founder and former member of unkle took the tunes balearic foundation and used it as a bed for what one might mistake as a lost arthur russell cut from the world of echo era. joel wells lent his airy, light, sweet vocals to the track, while darren morris added synth work to bolster tim�s usual production genius. it�s carefree and emotive, the aural equivalent of a big, toothy smile. the flip features a mix thats a whole helluva lot more intense and uptempo, though no less positive than its original. chidas remix of domination is squarer and housier than beziers piece, which was glitzy classic disco dunked in italo, but enough of it remains to be unmistakably a spinoff. fiery and propulsive in the way a gulfstream jet is, its a ball of thunder that will electrify any set, any dance floor.

the colors are stunning. in a single view, i see looking out at the edge of the earth, all the colors of the prism. red at the horizon, blends to orange and yellow, followed by a thin white line, then light blue, gradually turning to dark blue, then black as the vastness of space engulfs the surroundings. as i looked upon our home rock, i saw many natural features. i witnessed a large river meandering slowly along for miles, passing from one country to another without stopping or hesitation. i also saw huge forests, extending along & across several borders as if these divides didnt exist. i watched the extent of one ocean touch the shores of separate continents, then suddenly, a profound thought came over me as i looked down on all this. the birds dont fly this high

these songs were made over the past 2 and a half years by uchi: luna (january 2016), was named after a talking cat. it s kind of a sad story. you will find some synth sounds, three different kick drums, and a couple hi-hats. it s kind of moody. you can take it as it is, or not. pride is poison (july 2014) ironically, it s titled after experiencing dosages of unhealthy relationships, though it might be the one people like the most. it s sad-ish, noisy, bouncie, and bassie? that about sums it up. inc (february 2016) is titled after the international noise conference, where it was recorded. actually it s a 3 part spliced zoom room recording of a 25min long improvisation, made in a punk bar. the argument here holds, is it really worth it to make perfect music? where is the concept of -live- in techno anyways? it doesn t matter. it s just a semi-distorted recording of a moment that meant nothing to almost no one, and yet it lives.

christopher spraggins & the strange band out of rochester, n.y released a total of one record. a spaced out druggy disco band that had a hint of rick james with a deeper trippier vibe that�s truly unique, reproduced for you here for the first time since 1978. the band was introduced to the world by cleveland unlimited records who still exist to this day, unfortunately as these things go, the record failed to gain sales needed to justify further but a whole lp was recorded, here we bring you the best tracks from that unreleased lp on your favourite format.

* after almost 20 years of making tracks with blaringly loud kicks, you tend to start producing with the other elements first to give yourself a break from the constant pounding of monitors at point blank range. following an analog filter shopping spree, i began working on a group of tracks where the low end was satisfied by the filtering, and realized these songs worked just fine without a bass drum. therefore this record is called �rareforms� since most of my other work consists of a kick drum and lots of loud effects. this record is dedicated to the brilliant synthesist and interpreter isao tomita, whose records always provide inspiration in the lab. also to master storyteller rod serling and his frequent collaborator bernard hermann, whose score for the hitchcock film vertigo i adapted through some midi processes and wavetable synthesis, then sent it through a 4-foot spring reverb.* - phil moffa

kapote loves the funk. and he loves blaxploitation movies. the black underground cinema from the 1970ies. kapote samples dirty talk from these movies and puts it on his bass lines. melodic basslines with a heavy 1070 funk vibe. bass lines that can create a sexual tension. kapote adds a few warm, jazzy rhodes piano chords and a lot of reverbs and filtering. and the music rolls. often more like a jam then like a constructed piece of music. in the highest points this music is pure endorphin. it s 4 to the floor - but it has a soulful analogue sound. kapote says he was listening to records from old detroit label red planet and parisian downtempo pioneers motorbass and la funk mob while making this record. and yes, the vibe is there. like these guys kapote likes to build his musical trips around snippets from old funk vinyl. adding beats with vintage drum machines and creating an eclectic trip into a universe full of jazzy bits, noisy drums and dirty samples.
